Specialized Field(s) Modern Japanese literature and cultural history
Current Research Themes My research deals with the various migrations of people (including refugees) over the Pan Pacific area between Japan and East Asia on one side and North America on the other in the pre-World War II, wartime, and postwar eras, as well as the diverse movements in literature and the arts that arose in response to the resistance and oppression that accompanied the migrations.
