Application for Special Use Privileges

Patrons wishing to use Nichibunken's materials for the following purposes must apply for special use privileges.

  • Inclusion in a published work
  • Broadcast on television, etc.
  • Photography (stills, video)
  • Reproduction, including photographic reproduction and transcription

Application for Viewing Rare Books

Those who wish to view rare books must request permission in advance. Please mail in the "Application Form for Browsing Rare Books."

Reference Letters

[For the Guest Users]
Please ask your university library or the nearest public library for a letter of introduction.

[Directors of libraries outside of Nichibunken]
Nichibunken does not require a specific format for letters of introduction, but you must inform us in advance of your patrons' objectives, the sources they plan to use, and when they plan to use those sources.

Application for Copying an Entire Book

[For the Guest Users]
Please ask your university library or the nearest public library about obtaining permission to copy entire books.

Nichibunken does not require a specific format for letters requesting permission to copy entire books, but please state your patrons' objectives and the titles of the sources they plan to copy (Sample requests are available).

Application for Special Copying

In general, copying of special sources such as rare books and books bound in traditional Japanese style is contracted out to professional photographers. Please mail in the "Application Form for Special Copying."
