Current Research Themes 1.Art history and visual culture of the Edo Period. History of anatomy and body criticism; erotica. Rethinking ‘sakoku’, and international exchange 2.Deification of warriors in the early-modern period (Toyokuni daimyōjin, Tōshō daigongen). Nationwide network of Tōshō-gū shrines. I intend a monograph on this topic to be completed in 2024 (in English) 3.International exchange in the early-modern Kingdom of Lūchū (J: Ryūkyū). Cultural history of the Yaima (J: Yaeyama) islands. I intend a short book on this topic to be completed in 2024(in Japanese)
