Lifting of Age Restrictions on the Ehon (Ukiyo-e Shunga) Database

On September 30, 2021 (Thursday), the age restrictions placed on use of the “Ehon (Ukiyo-e Shunga)” database were lifted.
Previously, usage of this database had been subject to age restrictions that limited it to patrons aged 18 or older. However, in light of changes in the social environment regarding ehon and shunga, the decision has been made to lift these restrictions so that more people can make use of the collection.
Beginning October 1 (Friday), it will no longer be necessary to register to use the database.
However, we do recommend that use of the database by site visitors under the age of 18 be done so based on the scholarly guidance from experts.
