Requests from distant locations for copying services and borrowing of original materials.
For Users at Nichibunken
For persons applying for interlibrary loan services (either requests for copying and sending materials or borrowing original materials from other libraries) from within Nichibunken, please inquire at the library reception desk or by email.
For Users outside Nichibunken
Copies of materials in the Nichibunken Library may be obtained and
original books or materials may be borrowed (for reading within your library) through your
university library or a public library near you.
If you wish to use this service, please consult your university library or a public library
near you. Please note that Nichibunken may not be able to accommodate copying or lending
requests of some materials in its collection, such as those that are rare or badly damaged,
but in such cases we may consult with you for alternative means of obtaining the materials.
For Interlibrary Loan Staff
When
your library is a NACSIS-ILL participating library
The Nichibunken Library participates in the NACSIS-ILL network. After confirming the lending policy about our library, please submit an application via NACSIS-ILL.
When
your library is not a NACSIS-ILL participating library (* such as a public library)

Please apply by Fax or email (no fixed form is required).
After locating the title desired in the Nichibunken collection using Nichibunken's OPAC system, please provide the Material ID and
data on the work (title, author, publisher, volume number, etc.) and give the pages for
which copies are desired.

Fees Copying and postage
※photocopying: ¥35/page (color ¥100/page); reader-printer scan: ¥40/pageMethod of payment Bank deposit: in the month following the copying, a bank deposit form will be sent for payment through the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, Mitsui Sumitomo Ginko). The name of the payer should be the name of your library. Requests not accepted for Issues of periodicals published within the past 3 months and damaged documents. - ●Lending original materials

Reproductions of Rare Books, Classical Works, etc.
- A professional photography service will be engaged for film or digital photographing of rare books, classical works, and other special materials. Please fill out the "Application Form for Special Copying". Please inquire about the details.
- Requests for reproduction may not be accepted for materials due to their shape/size or conditions (e.g., badly damaged). We may consult with you for alternative means of complying with your request.
- We ask users to make use of film or digital images that are already available or materials made available via the Nichibunken website. For further information, please contact the Library.
For Users Outside Japan
Copies of materials in the Nichibunken Library may be obtained and
original books or
documents may be borrowed (for reading within your library) through your university library
or a public library near you. If you wish to use this service, please consult your
university library or a public library near you.
If your library does not have a specialist for Japanese studies and the staff in charge of
ILL encounter difficulties in requesting services from Japan, please ask the person in
charge to contact us and we will explain the procedures. Please contact us at the address

For Interlibrary Loan Staff Outside Japan
Handling of interlibrary loan requests differs depending upon the
state
of preservation of the materials requested, the number of pages, the method of sending, and
the method by which payment can be arranged. Each case is handled on an individual basis, so
please consult about the details by contacting us at the address below.
Payment for participation in OCLC WorldShare ILL may be arranged through IFM. Please see the
following for details.
OCLC WorldShare
ILL participating libraries
The Nichibunken Library is an OCLC WorldShare ILL participant
(IFM payments enabled). After reviewing the terms of lending policy, please submit a
request at OCLC WorldShare ILL.
Our OCLC symbol is "IRCJS."
- Do not submit a request for a journal issue (volume/number) that is not in the Nichibunken Library collection (please confirm holdings via OPAC (http://tosho1n.nichibun.ac.jp/?lang=english) in advance).
- If there is a copy of the desired document or book in a library in your country, submit a request to that library before requesting from Nichibunken Library.
- Out-of-print or difficult-to-obtain materials may be lent in the form of a reproduction, based on the terms of the Japanese Copyright Law. Please consult us for details.
- For payments via methods other than IFM, please contact us for details.
- There may be some interruptions in service (extended holidays, fiscal year-end, and absence of person in charge).

Fee: Copying fee + postage
(photocopying ¥35/page (color ¥100/page); reader-printer scan ¥40/page)
Requests not accepted for: Issues of periodicals published within the past 3 months and

●Lending original materials
※Use of these materials is restricted to the premises of your Library
Fee: Postage (mailing by EMS express post)
Lending period: As a rule 4 weeks (including the sending period)
Return: Materials should be sent using a service that provides tracking of the package.
Requests not accepted for: Rare books, microfilm, audio-visual materials, reference works, periodical publications, large-format books, damaged materials.
