Interactions between Law, Politics, and Religion in Japan: Research from the Perspectives of the Modern and Contemporary Worlds

Category Foundational

How do politics, law, and religion intertwine and influence each other in the formation of the social order? Classical as this question may be, it is the key issue for our world today as it struggles to deal with ethnic conflict and terrorist acts arising from forces inspired by religious doctrine. By looking at Japan, which is thought to be an example of early secularization, we seek to open up new prospects on such issues through the two-way perspective of history and analysis of the present and through comparison with cases in other countries.
