The Heian Jinbutsushi a guide to the arts, crafts and culture of Kyoto, was published and revised over a one hundred year span from 1768 to 1867. For the reader at the time, it contained practical ""Who's who"" information of the various masters living in the city, such as their names, pen names, locations, activities and writings. It functioned as an index for novices in search of skills and knowledge needed to enrich their lives. In 1998, Nichibunken acquired the Ozasa Kizo collection of poetry written on tanzaku, by the people appearing in the Heian Jinbutsushi that reflect their life and times. The team, through various readings, aims to recreate the world that produced these documents.
